Every year, Bellarmine Activities Council hosts a Halloween dance for its students on the Belle of Louisville. Ball on the Belle has been a Bellarmine tradition for several years and is one of Bellarmine Activities Council's most popular events. Students enjoy attending this event and have fun with the theme as well.
Ball on the Belle will take place this year on Friday, Oct. 28from 8-11pm. Students particularly enjoy this dance because they get to get dressed up in their favorite Halloween costumes and go for a ride on the Belle of Louisville up and down the Ohio River. Recognition is always given to an individual and group for the best costume.
Some students have been concerned that the Belle of Louisville will not leave the dock this year, but the tradition will continue for the Belle to travel on the Ohio River. However, Ball on the Belle is an alcohol-free event. Any student who arrives with alcohol or intoxicated, will be escorted back to Bellarmine by Bellarmine transportation, even if they are of the legal drinking age. Those students will also not be allowed to attend Ball on the Belle next year. If students arrive at the Belle of Louisville intoxicated, the Belle will not leave the dock. The reason behind not leaving is out of concern for student's safety.
In the past, non-Bellarmine students were allowed to attend the dance. Due to the Belle of Louisville's capacity, the dance this year will be only for Bellarmine students.
Bellarmine Activities Council Dances and Special Events Co-chair, Tatum Daugherty says, "I'm very excited for Ball on the Belle this year. I hope that everyone who comes has a fantastic time."
Ball on the Belle tickets are currently on sale and still available for students to purchase. Students can purchase them online at www.bellarminetickets.com. Load-in for the dance will be from 8-9p.m. Any student who arrives after 9p.m. will not be able to board the Belle. The boat will cruise down the Ohio River from 9-11p.m. Students must show their Student ID with their ticket upon boarding. If the name on their ID does not match the name on the ticket, they will not be able to attend the dance.
If anyone has any questions, they can contact Katherine Duzane at kduzane01@bellarmine.edu or Tatum Daugherty at tdaugherty02@bellarmine.edu. Bellarmine Activities Council hopes to see everyone at Ball on the Belle on Friday.
