Are you looking for something fun to do this weekend instead of homework? Why not visit Churchill Downs on Friday, November 18, for Downs after Dark.

Senior Kaitlyn Morley has been to Night Racing several times. She said, "I have been to night racing and it was a lot of fun. It is a great atmosphere for both a young and adult crowd. I would recommend the event to anyone who enjoys having a good time."

Morley said, "They even have different themes each time you go to make it a different experience." According to Churchill Downs' website, in honor of last year's Kentucky Derby winner, Animal Kingdom, the theme is animal print.

Senior Kristin Gramling has never been to Downs after Dark. However, she believes the themes make it more fun and appealing.

Gates open at 3 p.m. There will be 11 races. The first race is set to begin at approximately 4:30 p.m. and the last race will begin around 9:36 p.m.

General admission is $10. In addition to the races, there will be live entertainment and music. Morley said Downs after Dark has a little something for everyone. She said. "They have a variety of attractions from the obvious horse racing and betting to the live band and dancing that goes on around the paddock."

This is the only Downs after Dark of the Fall Meet and the last one of the year. Although Gramling has never been, she said it sounds like a lot of fun. She currently doesn't have plans to attend this year, but she said her plans could change.

Even though Morley doesn't know if she will make it out on November 18, she still encourages everyone to attend. She said, "I would say that making an effort to make it out to the night racing before finals would be a great way to blow off some steam. You can let loose and have a good time with friends by dancing and possibly win some money while you're at it. Kentucky is known for its horse racing so it's a great opportunity to have fun and be a part of Louisville's best attraction."

So grab some friends, dress in animal print, and come spend the evening at Churchill Downs.
